Maldives join newly formed South West Asian Football federation

Asia’s newest Football Federation South West Asian Football Federation has been launched with Maldives part of the Saudi lead Federation.

The Federation comes to life following a merge between members of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) and the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).

Based out of Jeddah the Federations member nations are Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Kuwait, Maldives, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and Yemen The South West Asian Football Federation (SWAFF).

The SWAFF has left out West Asian nations Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Qatar and South Asian Nations Nepal and Bhutan.

Maldives was represented at the launching ceremony of SWAFF by president of the Olympic committee Mohamed Saweed.

The first congress of the federation is set to be held after the World cup according to reports from Saudi news paper Al-Arabiya
